Dr. Heather Beach:
Veterinarian - Sports medicine
Dr. Heather Beach grew up on the south shore of Massachusetts riding horses and competing in a variety of disciplines including dressage, eventing and hunter/jumpers. She received her BA from Boston University in 2001. Following her undergraduate studies, Dr. Beach worked as a research assistant in a lab dedicated to stem cell research and regenerative therapies at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. This love of science and research, along with her lifelong love of horses, inspired her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine at Tufts Cumming’s School of Veterinary Medicine, where she graduated in 2007. Following graduation, Dr. Beach completed a one year internship focusing on lameness and sport horse practice. She then went on to general equine practice in Connecticut for six years prior to joining Dr. Maher at Atlantic Equine Services in 2014.
Dr. Beach enjoys all aspects of lameness diagnosis and treatment, but is especially interested in ultrasound and other diagnostic imaging modalities. She also has a special interest in the biomechanics of the foot, and enjoys collaborating with farriers and other professionals on difficult podiatry cases. Dr. Beach loves working on all types of sport horses, from the english sport horse to the standardbred racehorse. When she’s not working around a horse or riding her own horse, Dr. Beach enjoys hiking, playing guitar, photography, writing, and home improvement projects.
Dr. Beach is based in Northeast Connecticut but is available for appointments throughout New England.
