Alpha 2 Macroglobulin [A2M] is a naturally occurring enzyme in the horses blood that inhibits cartilage breakdown. Inherently it is found in very low quantities within the joint due to its large molecular size and complex structure. To create therapeutic levels within the joint a process starting with a simple blood draw is used to isolate and concentrate the A2M enzyme. One blood draw produces multiple doses that are injected into compromised joints either immediately stall-side or frozen for future use. It is completely drug free and has no competition restrictions, although we always recommend following your organizations rules for general joints injections. Please contact us today to determine if A2M therapy is right for your horse.
