Pegasus Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is an orthobiologic treatment that leverages the natural healing properties of your horse’s blood to promote recovery and reduce inflammation. By concentrating growth factors such as TGF-β, PDGF, EGF, VEGF, and FGF, PRP initiates and accelerates the healing process.
These growth factors attract stem cells, stimulate connective tissue growth, and promote the formation of new blood vessels, which deliver vital nutrients and oxygen to the injury site. Pegasus PRP has a standardized platelet concentration based on the joint or tissue being treated and contains minimal red and white blood cells, enhancing both the safety and efficacy of the treatment.
Using a state-of-the-art analyzer, Pegasus verifies the PRP’s composition prior to injection into your horse. Pegasus PRP allows for the optional quantification of key cytokines––IL-1Ra, IL-10, TNF-a, and TGF-β1––ensuring that anti-inflammatory factors are present in optimal concentrations to maximize therapeutic outcomes.
In addition to delivering PRP, Pegasus Orthobiologics also provide Platelet-Poor Plasma (PPP), which contains a significant amount of anti-inflammatory modulators like IRAP and A2M and can be used for the local treatment of joints, tendons, and muscles.
